The Kobelco SK280LC-12 is a 29-ton medium-sized heavy-duty excavator with a total operating weight of 29,200 kg. With a fully upgraded mechanical configuration, it adapts to complex operating conditions such as large-scale earth and stone excavation, mining operations, and infrastructure construction, achieving precise optimization in power output, hydraulic control, and structural durability, and becoming a heavy-duty benchmark model that balances efficiency and durability.
The power system is equipped with a Cummins B7 four-stroke, water-cooled engine rated at 180kW. By adopting high-pressure common-rail electronic injection and an efficient combustion system, fuel utilization is 15% higher than that of the previous generation, fully meeting the National IV emission standards. The engine is equipped with a triple exhaust treatment system of DPF+SCR+DOC, requiring no frequent maintenance, and is equipped with a fan suction cooling system to adjust heat dissipation efficiency and avoid high-temperature overload automatically; at the same time, it is equipped with a 24V/70A alternator, a 24V/7.5kW starter motor and two sets of 12V/135Ah batteries, forming a stable power supply system. Combined with H/S/E mode switching and the automatic idle-speed function, it further reduces fuel consumption during invalid operation.
The hydraulic system uses a newly developed Kobelco hydraulic control system, integrated with Kawasaki hydraulic pumps and main control valves, enabling more intelligent flow distribution and improved control coordination. The system strengthens the design of the regeneration circuit, converting gravitational potential energy into arm-lifting power as the boom descends, reducing excess pressure loss. It is standardly equipped with VG46 hydraulic oil and a dedicated filter for hydraulic breakers, preventing impurity intrusion and extending the service life of the hydraulic system. The arm digging force is 122 kN (135 kN when supercharged); the bucket digging force is 171 kN (188 kN when supercharged); the operation cycle time is reduced by 7%; and the hourly earthwork volume is increased by 25%, greatly improving the efficiency of heavy-duty operations.
The chassis and working device adopt a reinforced design. The SHD-level boom is 6.02m long, and the arm is 2.98m long. The key parts are reinforced with steel plates, and the welding process is upgraded to improve structural rigidity and impact resistance. The bucket capacity is 1. The optimized low-resistance bucket design reduces excavation resistance. The chassis is equipped with HD 600mm or 800mm crawler tracks, with 3 crawler adjusters on each side to prevent deformation and chain detachment; the undercarriage guard is thickened to comprehensively resist rock impact, with a maximum traction force of 225kN, and the travel speed is two gears: 4.0km/h and 6.3km/h, adapting to different operation scenarios. The cab features a ROPS protective structure, an air-suspension seat, and a 10-inch color display, balancing safety and operational comfort.
