Importing a used excavator can be a cost-effective way to expand a construction fleet, but buyers should inspect carefully before payment and shipping. A good machine can reduce project cost, while a poorly checked machine can create delays, repair costs, and customs problems. 1. Confirm the Exact Machine Identity
Start with the basics: brand, model, year, serial number, machine hours, engine model, operating weight, bucket size, and current location. Ask for clear photos of the nameplate and serial number. The model shown in photos, quotation, invoice, and export documents should be consistent.
2. Review Engine Condition
The engine is one of the most important inspection points. Ask for startup video, idle video, acceleration video, and close-up photos of the engine compartment. Look for abnormal smoke, oil leakage, coolant leakage, difficult starting, unusual noise, damaged hoses, and poor maintenance signs.
