Serial-linked electronic evidence
Controller/ECM, OEM telematics or dealer retrieval tied to the exact machine.
Evidence tool · bilingual worksheet included
A dashboard number alone does not verify excavator hours. Compare the claim with serial-linked electronic data, dated service chronology and physical condition, then state clearly whether the hours are verified, supported, unverified or contradictory.

Treat displayed hours as verified only when at least one serial-linked electronic source and a dated record sequence support the same machine without an unresolved contradiction. Wear can support consistency; it cannot calculate exact hours.
Controller/ECM, OEM telematics or dealer retrieval tied to the exact machine.
Service reports, invoices, inspection records and delivery documents whose readings only increase over time.
Two or more sources with explained differences and retained files.
Controls, joints, undercarriage, leaks and hot performance that do not contradict the documented history.
| Evidence | Can support | Cannot prove |
|---|---|---|
| Dashboard display | Current shown claim | Originality, historical continuity or exact life |
| Controller / ECM | Strong serial-linked reading when correctly retrieved | A complete maintenance history by itself |
| OEM telematics | Dated operating trend on supported connected periods | Hours before activation or outside data coverage |
| Service records | Chronology when serial, date and reading are present | Continuity if long periods are missing |
| Pedals, seat and joysticks | Whether use looks light or heavy relative to the claim | Exact hours; these parts can be replaced |
| Undercarriage and pins | Measured wear and maintenance quality | Total life; components may have been renewed |
Availability varies by model year, market, account and whether telematics was activated. Ask the owner or authorized dealer for a serial-linked export or screenshot with date and machine identity.
| Brand | Source | Use |
|---|---|---|
| CAT | VisionLink / Product Link | Machine hours, service events and fault information where the asset and subscription support it. |
| KOMATSU | KOMTRAX / My Komatsu | Operating condition and maintenance-related fleet records for connected equipment. |
| HITACHI | Global e-Service | Machine information and operating history shared through Hitachi's service platform. |
| SANY | MySANY | Asset condition and service access when the machine is supported and linked. |
| XCMG | Global Service System | XCMG service-system access; availability depends on account, market and machine. |
| VOLVO | CareTrack | Connected fleet data and service support where CareTrack is active. |
| DOOSAN / DEVELON | MY DEVELON | Equipment information, maintenance and document access for supported assets. |
| KOBELCO | KOMEXS | Service alerts and maintenance history on supported machines. |
Photograph machine serial, engine serial, full model/suffix, display and controller labels.
Collect display, controller/ECM, OEM telematics and the latest dated service reading.
Order every reading by date. A valid sequence should not decrease unless a documented component was replaced.
Compare cold start, hot performance, controls, joints and measured undercarriage with the claimed history.
Use verified, supported or unverified wording and retain the evidence supplied to the buyer.
The four-page PDF records identity, six evidence sources, differences, chronology, physical clues, final grade and signatures in English and Spanish.
No. A dashboard reading is a claim. Use a serial-linked controller, OEM telematics or dealer source plus dated records.
No. Paint reflects exposure and repair. It cannot establish exact hours and may be older or newer than the components below it.
There is no universal percentage for every machine. Small differences may reflect update timing or idle/runtime definitions; material conflicts require source and chronology review.
Record old reading, replacement date, new starting reading, part or work order and current reading. Without that chain, total hours remain unverified.
It can estimate current component wear, not machine life. Soil, travel distance, shoe width, tension and prior replacement change the result.
Only after the hours and condition are independently supported. Price should still reflect hot performance, repair needs, configuration and delivered cost.
