Entity and account
Compare registration, legal name, domain, email, phone, operating location and beneficiary. Call through a known channel if new bank instructions arrive.
Cross-border transaction control
A payment method does not protect a used-equipment purchase by itself. Protection comes from making every release depend on verifiable supplier identity, machine identity, contract terms, inspection, loading and documents.
Six gates
There is no universal deposit and balance percentage. Deal size, relationship, bank method and logistics route vary. What should not vary is the evidence required before each decision.

The offer should identify make, model, serial, stated year, hours, attachments, condition and location. Match the plate to current videos and reject photos of a similar unit.
Define price, Incoterm with named place, currency, agreed condition, exclusions, inspection, preparation, documents, loading, timeline, payments and discrepancy handling.
Test a true cold start, loaded engine, hot hydraulics, travel, swing, structure, pins and undercarriage. Record accepted defects and outstanding repairs.
Confirm removed parts, protected hoses, package inventory, lifting, lashing, actual dimensions and weight. Loading must match the carrier booking.
Match commercial invoice, packing list, bill or draft, consignee, ports and description. Correct errors before the carrier deadline and final milestone.
Method comparison
A more formal method may control documents and still miss a weak hydraulic pump. Treat payment risk, documentary risk and mechanical risk as separate decisions.
| Route | Useful for | Does not solve | Choose when |
|---|---|---|---|
| T/T bank transfer | Bank record, speed and relatively clear cost. | Easy recovery after sending; mechanical condition. | Entity and account are verified, contract is clear and releases are evidence-gated. |
| LC | Document control and presentation conditions. | Actual quality when criteria are vague; costly discrepancies. | Larger deal, capable banks and precise documentary requirements. |
| Platform protection | Recorded order and communication, possible dispute process. | Automatic coverage outside eligible terms, deadlines or route. | Protected order describes serial, condition, evidence and delivery measurably. |
| D/P | Bank-handled document release against payment. | Mechanical inspection or control of the machine after shipment. | Known relationship and defined documents; not as an inspection substitute. |
| Personal account, cash or crypto | May appear fast. | Business traceability, contract matching and recovery. | Not recommended for a cross-border machinery purchase. |

This tool organizes the conversation; it does not replace your bank, lawyer, customs broker or inspector.
Machines for a verifiable offer
Request current price and availability for the exact unit. The file should bind serial, inspection, shipping method and beneficiary before payment.

FAQ
The safest structure is a documented business-to-business payment released against verified milestones, not a particular payment method by itself. Confirm the supplier entity, beneficiary account, exact machine serial number, inspection evidence, contract, loading evidence and document responsibilities. Use a bank or platform channel that records the transaction, and stop if the beneficiary changes without a documented legal reason.
A letter of credit can reduce documentary and counterparty risk, but it does not prove mechanical condition unless the required documents and inspection conditions are written precisely. A bank transfer is simpler and faster but gives less documentary control after release. Choose an LC for larger or unfamiliar transactions when both banks can handle the required documents; choose staged T/T only after identity, machine and release evidence are verified.
Yes, the default expectation is that the beneficiary matches the contracted legal seller. If a platform, export agent or affiliated company receives payment, the contract must identify every entity, explain its role and provide verifiable bank and registration evidence. Do not send money to a personal account or an unexplained third party because an invoice was changed at the last minute.
Release the final milestone only after the contract-defined evidence is complete. Depending on the agreement, that may include the serial-number match, final working video, inspection close-out, loading and lashing images, package inventory, transport booking and document copies. The correct trigger is the agreed evidence set, not a verbal message that the machine is ready.
No platform should be assumed to guarantee mechanical condition automatically. Protection depends on the order terms, eligible payment route, evidence, dispute window and exclusions. Write measurable condition and delivery obligations into the protected order, preserve all communication on the platform and inspect the exact serial-numbered machine before accepting release.
